Nato Codification

The key is being organised

The NATO Codification System (NCS) is the biggest codification and cataloguing system in the world. The system enables NATO countries to exchange logistics information on over 16 million items of supply, enabling all items of equipment to be fully supportable when units deploy.

For an item of equipment to enter the UK’s Military Supply chain it must be codified.

An NSN is broken down into 3 parts:

1005 – 13 – 123 – 4567

1005 NATO Supply Classification Code (NCS)
13 Country assigning the NSN (NCB code)
123 – 4567 Non-significant number which, with NCB Code, uniquely identifies the item

So how can tms help you?

tms will take the hassle out of the codification process for your company from start to finish.

Right from when you decide you need an item codifying to receiving the allocated NSN in ISIS. All you have to do is provide the source data so tms are able to identify the item correctly.

tms can also provide full screening on thousands of items in one go, this is to ensure items that are already codified, are accurately identified.
