S1000D
Specification 1000D (S1000D) is the international specification for technical publication work within the defence and aerospace industries.  Originally a specification for use within the aircraft industry, it has been expanded to include land, sea and air platforms, first by the UK MoD as Def Stan 00-600 and later by the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD).  With this expansion in both scope and the international aspect, the specification is currently very suitable for work within the civilian engineering industries.
