The content of Technical Documentation (TD) for new equipments is usually determined through an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) programme which is carried out throughout the design and build programme with the aim of minimising whole life support costs and maximise supportability. For commercially available equipment ILS programmes are severely tailored or non-existent. This is where TMS can help with a Preferred Repair Schedule (PRS), Ease of Maintenance Assessment (EMA) or a Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA).
