NATO Codification

What is NATO Codification?

The NATO Codification System (NCS) is the largest codification and cataloguing system in the world.  The system enables NATO countries to exchange logistics information on over 16 million items of supply, enabling all items of equipment to be fully supportable when units deploy.

For an item of equipment to enter the UK’s Military Supply chain it must be codified.

An NSN (NATO Stock Number) is broken down into 3 parts:

1005 – 13 – 123 – 4567

1005 NATO Supply Classification Code (NCS)

13 Country assigning the NSN (NCB code)

123-4567 Non-significant number which, with NCB Code, uniquely identifies the item

Our screening service involves using the Item of Supply Information System (ISIS) to accurately detect items that are codified.  Using this service we can process large amounts of data quickly and efficiently within a secure environment from your data, in any format.

TMS will work with you to provide the support and advice you need to ensure the codification process is smooth and uncomplicated.
