Technical Documentation On Line (TDOL) Management

The Design Repository (DR) was created to provide a secure location for the management of key project data and complex technical documents, ILS data, Logistics Support Analysis Records (LSAR) and Through Life Management Plans (TLMPs).

One function of the DR is to provide on-line access to up-to-date technical information across the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force.  This function of the DR is provided through Technical Documentation On Line (TDOL).

TDOL manages more than 10,000 Army Equipment Support Publications (AESPs) and in total over 30,000 technical manuals all of which are available electronically.  TDOL has significantly reduced the need to print paper technical manuals.

tms has access to TDOL via the RLI and can provide the following services:

• Creation of new technical manuals
• Amendments to existing manuals
• Production of TDOL format .pdf files
• Production of pagination files (print instructions)
• Upload of new and amended manuals plus amendment and pagination files onto the TDOL system.

tms provides TDOL services for a number of MoD project teams and for the C Vehicle PFI updating and loading onto TDOL over 1,000 technical manuals.

In addition the DR provides support for ASD S1000D. In the future the DR will host IETPs.  As IETPs can contain embedded videos and 3D images this will provide engineers with in depth maintenance and on the job training material.
